My father's dogs

My father was a hunter during 40 years and there were always a lot of dogs in the house. More or less 10 years ago he started losing his strength and capability of handling a rifle so he stopped hunting but kept the dogs. Over these last 10 years most dogs died from age and there are only two survivors. They are really old now but my mother is going to keep them till they die from age. They are very well treated and although my mother doesn't buy any specific pet supplies they always have water and food. they always bark when someone knocks at the door.

Old stuff stored

In the toys room in the basement we have a big wood box where we have stored over passed years a lot of stuff we don't use. Today my kids where curious about what was inside so we opened the box for them to see. Well, there are old books from school, kitchen bowls, old diaries, old backpacks, foam pool floats and a few games from my kids early months when they were just babies. For now we are going to keep everything there, maybe in a few years we make a big clean up and put some old stuff in the garbage.

We bought an electric bed for my father

My father (Alzheimer disease) has a new electric bed. My mother was having trouble in taking care of him due to the height of the bed he had so we had to find a solution. This new one has a control attached that controls the movements of the bed.

My father can't move by himself anymore so no motion sensor lights are needed in the room to prevent him from walking out of the house alone. He's really stuck in the bed now.

Barbecue Cover, not this year again

I guess this year we won't be able (again) to build a roof in the barbecue. We have a barbecue in the backyard but once it's exposed to the sun and rain we almost never use it. We wanted to build a cover so that we could put a table and some chairs down there. It's rather expensive to build, we already thought about building it ourselves, we have some DeWalt tools that would be useful but we also need bricks, cement, wood and this means a lot of money. We probably are going to buy a cloth cover and wait for the right time to build the real one.

Emergency weight loss

My boss is getting nuts about weight loss. Although needing to lose only a few pounds, he's going through what we, employees, call "a 20's crisis". He's 43 but he acts and wants to look as if he is in his 20's. Once normal detox products didn't work he just started a specialized treatment with diet pills (similar to orovo detox) and a careful diet mainly fresh vegetables, low fat yogurts, fruits, etc.. I'm sure it will work as long as he keeps himself away from parties and special dinners.

Guess who has to take the yogurt from the fridge and take it to his desk....

Most bills are already paid this month

I'm having a rather calm month regarding bills to pay. The more important bills: electricity, water, gas, daycare, school are paid, only the mortgage is missing because it is in the middle of the month. This month I have no auto insurance or life insurance to pay, those are for June and July. The credit card and payday loan are fully paid.

For the first time in 3 or 4 years I guess I can breath a little from the money pressure. Some times I just feel I'm going to have a stroke from the pressure I'm under everyday.

Help to the elderly needed

Due to my father's Alzheimer and his deteriorating conditions we have been searching for services that provide monetary help for diapers and specially medication.

Our medical service regarding diapers only pays at the end of the year, IF the social services have money, the medication has no special discount, only the one that a retired person has. Something like medicare part d service would be a great help around here.
